The historic market town of Guildford is situated on the door step of the glorious Surrey Hills, an area renowned as one of outstanding natural beauty. The town is a wonderful place to live for both young and old, with excellent transport links to all points across the UK.

Knight Frank opened in Guildford in 1984 and is firmly established as a leading residential office in the area. The Guildford office covers a prime area in Surrey, from Farnham in the West, Reigate to the East, Chobham in the North and Grayswood in the South.

Within this area, we cover the towns of Dorking, Woking, Godalming, Cranleigh as well as the Surrey Hills and the North Downs.

We sell all types of houses and flats within the town itself – from new-build luxury town-centre apartments to handsome suburban family homes – while further into the countryside we sell pretty cottages, farms and large country estates.

In reality, there is no such thing as a typical property for sale. Surrey is a very diverse county that over the centuries has gone from being

wealthy to poor and back again, and this is reflected in the architecture. In the areas that we cover, there is an abundance of 15th- and 16th-century houses built when the county was full of wealthy merchants.

The most popular style of house, for most buyers, is Georgian and there is a notable lack of pure Georgian houses in our area, due to the fact that the county was going through a ‘poor’ phase during this era, and only lower-quality facsimilies could be produced.

Between the wars, and post the arrival of the railway during the Industrial Revolution, there was a surge in house building of all types and varieties, resulting in many houses being built in the Surrey vernacular, which involved leaded windows and tile hanging.

There are not many towns that you can commute into London in 34 minutes, be by the coast in 50 minutes and have access to Heathrow and Gatwick within an hour.

The cobbled high street filled with high end retailers, bars and restaurants makes Guildford an extremely sought-after location.

One of the major attractions of South Surrey is the beautiful unspoilt countryside with the stunning Surrey Hills, stretching from Reigate to Farnham. Access to London is convenient, but the town centres are sophisticated enough to satisfy all needs and requirements.

The surrounding county is the one that offers the best of everything in terms of lesiure; from racing to pre-West End theatre productions, with championship golf courses to county cricket.
