Scotland & North England
With stunning countryside and attractive towns and cities like Edinburgh and Harrogate part of this beautiful region’s offerings, it’s easy to see why there has been an explosion in demand this year, particularly for family homes and properties with gardens
REGIONAL INSIGHT
Edward Douglas-Home
Head of Scotland Residential
2021 has seen a continuation of people reviewing where they want to live following the lockdowns and changes brought about by the pandemic. As a result, we’ve experienced unprecedented demand for homes in Scotland and the North of England, whether people are looking for an escape to the countryside or the attractive regional towns available. In Edinburgh, family houses, especially those with gardens, have been particularly in demand; likewise in Harrogate. The rural market has also seen an explosion in demand – whether for coastal houses and second homes, or Scottish castles and estates. In living memory, we have not witnessed this level of demand for property in rural Scotland and the northern English counties. Across the board, the imbalance of supply and demand has led to prices continuing to rise.
