The remarkable trading period for residential property markets around the world was equally felt in the Channel Islands. After a slow start in Guernsey due to tighter restrictions on travel, the markets on the island flourished after the gates were opened. The highest number of properties for sale above £10m were available, showing the intent of the market and the increased demand fuelled by the attractiveness of the island, low crime, low tax, and protective nature against Covid-19. In Jersey, we saw a record price achieved for all property that went under competition. Over 100 families from the UK mainland have made first-time enquires about Jersey property this year, which is up by around 4% from 2020. Meanwhile, the number of 2(1)e residency applications has gone from 11 to 23, over a 100% increase.
